INTRODUCTION
By virtue of the expansive community service of BC/Yukon Command of The Royal Canadian Legion and the multitude of health and social agency partnerships, gaps in programs and service delivery become evident.
As a means to address some of these specialized community needs and further the mandate of the Legion, BC/Yukon Command established the Legion Foundation.
Through the Legion Foundation significant contributions are made to those in need and deserving of special care and attention. At times hospitals and care facilities have challenges raising funds for special equipment not normally included in government subsidies. When these gaps in services and/or equipment requirements are evident, the Legion does its best where possible, to assist the community.
SPECIAL MEDICAL EQUIPMENT
Donations to hospitals and care facilities may include such things as: medication carts; treadmills; emergency room lights; Bradma machines; IV Triple Infusion Pumps…to name but a few of the contributions made for these purposes.
FURNISHINGS FOR CARE FACILITIES
Donations are also made to Long Term Care Facilities to assist with the acquisition of furnishings, not normally included in government subsidies.
In order to finance these special needs contributions, the Legion Foundation accepts donations and bequests. As a registered charitable organization the Foundation issues receipts for tax purposes.
